PingPlotter is giving an error for "System.Windows.Baml2006.TypeConverterMarkupExtension", how do I fix it?

Question

I'm getting "Provide value on 'System.Windows.Baml2006.TypeConverterMarkupExtension' threw an exception." whenever I try and run PingPlotter. What is this and how can I fix it?

Solution

We've found some evidence that having a non-standard color profile set might cause issues with PingPlotter (and other .NET WPF applications).You'll know if this is the issue because the setting will be something other than System Default (sRGB IEC61966-2.1). If that's the case, then changing it to System Default (sRGB IEC61966-2.1) should fix the problem.

Instructions:

• Open Windows (Start Menu) and search for Color Management (you may have to run it with administrator privileges)
  
  
• Click on the Advanced tab
  
  
• For Device profile, change the dropdown selection to System Default (sRGB IEC61966-2.1)
  
  
• Click Close, then restart the PingPlotter application
