I am getting inconsistant behavior from my Email Alert.

Env: MultiPing 2.00 on XP on corp network with Exchange. I am not SMTP authenticating currently, alert email "Send email to:" myself works fine.

Alert is three events: tray notifacation, email on entered & left alert state, settings are 10samples / 4 or more / 46ms.

Inconsistancies are:
1. tray notifacation does not seem to fire in syncrony with the email, often no tray notification occurs, but the email is sent ok.
2. Attempts to send to two email addresses results in multiple null (no body, no subject, no from) emails reaching the first address, without the alert condition even firing. Send email to: mpastrone@chartone.com; 6177712732@vtext.com.

Thanks.

Sorry for the self-diagnosis, but after entering the SMTP authentication creds, the vtext email now reaches my phone OK.

1) Emails have delays in them, which can mean that you get an alert for a condition after that condition has already ended (and the tray icon has gone away). There are a number of possibilities here, but for troubleshooting, it's sometimes best to get rid of all the delays, and then re-add the delays once you trust that things are working as expected. These delays come in the form of "Maximum email frequency" and "How many minutes to wait before sending". Set both of these to 0 and then see if things behave a bit more the way you're expecting.

2) A non-relaying SMTP server could definitely cause problems with the "To" address. Did updating your SMTP server also correct the blank email problem?

Thanks Pete,

1. I will observe again with "delays" set to zero.

2. I believe Exchange got confused, perhaps by the combination of not authenticating SMTP and multiple adresses.

In any case all seems to be well now.

Cheers.
